Reflecting on Pride 2024
As we bid farewell to another vibrant Pride month, we’re reflecting on the engaging activities and events across our global offices. At Ogury, we pledge to create a safe space where everyone feels comfortable bringing their most authentic selves to work - every day. From inspiring talks to community gatherings, this month has celebrated diversity and resilience. Join us as we look back on the highlights of our Pride month, honoring the unity that defines the community.
#SnapTheFlag
Throughout the month, this global initiative invited employees to take a selfie or group picture while wearing or holding something that showcases the colors of Pride. 137 employees shared pictures to our internal Slack, triggering over $1,300 in donations from Ogury to the charity It Gets Better.
Move with Pride Challenge
To raise additional funds for It Gets Better, we launched a movement challenge employees could join after donating to our fundraiser. This activity let employees take action (literally!) through movement while contributing to a good cause. Over 40 employees accepted the challenge of taking a minimum of 160,000 steps across the month. For their efforts, all participants will receive an exclusive Pride-themed t-shirt.
Intersectionality through the LGBTQIA+ Lens
This workshop, available to all employees, was hosted by Laïla El-Métoui, a global equity educator and speaker, UN Women UK advocate, and a Stonewall Role Model in 2020. She is also the founder of Pride in Education, UK Queer Arabs, and Proud London Councils. The content covered helped employees gain a better understanding of intersectionality and the concepts of power and privilege with a focus on LGBTQIA+ identities and provided practical tips for stronger allyship through inclusive language.
Local Events
In addition to our global initiatives, our offices also held their own in-person events throughout the month, which included:
- Barcelona & Chicago: Colorful Pride breakfasts with rainbow bagels, fresh fruits and everything in between!
- Cologne: Pride-themed trivia with Rainbow food and drinks
- Denver: Lunch from a local, queer-owned restaurant
- London: Held a breakfast and a musical bingo evening
- Madrid: Key chain crafting workshop
- Mexico: Office decorating day with Pride-themed cupcakes
- NYC: Cupcake decorating with Pride-themed toppers, as well as a catered lunch from a queer-owned restaurant located near the office
- Sydney: Employees wore their most colorful outfits and enjoyed Pride themed cupcakes
Beyond June
The end of the month doesn’t mean that our work is over. While our events over the past few weeks helped make our Pride Month celebration unforgettable, we will continue to champion acceptance and inclusivity every day of the year by continuing to build a culture where employees feel engaged, respected, and proud to belong.
