Nicolette Alcenat is a People Business Partner Director for Ogury, based out of New Jersey, USA - that’s what her resume would say. But there’s so much more to her story than the job title might suggest. In Ogury’s Spotlight Series, we’re delving past the day-to-day duties to see what shapes our employees inside and outside the workplace.
I worked at a few tech companies (SaaS, Fintech), mostly startups, with both smaller and larger, primarily US-based teams. I’ve worked in different HR functions, from payroll to recruitment, culture, and operations. At times, I was a team of one (me) and others in larger teams. Before joining Ogury, I worked for a company called Chief, which focuses on building a network for women in leadership.
Every day is different. There are so many topics to discuss and exciting problems to solve, which means many opportunities to learn something new. Also, partnering with business leaders on a day-to-day basis allows for fostering relationships and opportunities to build while also coming up with long-term strategic solutions.
My favorite part about working in adtech is seeing how it seamlessly integrates into people’s daily lives, often without them even realizing it. Adtech leverages data and technology to deliver engaging and relevant ads, enhancing user experiences across various platforms. It’s fascinating to be part of an industry that not only drives business growth but subtly influences consumer behavior and preferences in a natural and unobtrusive way. Knowing that our work helps connect people with products and services they genuinely need and enjoy is incredibly rewarding.
I love animals! I have a dog and a cat (which is also unexpected because I don’t talk about her much). I'd have at least two more dogs if I had my way (and more space). I dream of having a farm full of animals, from chickens to cows to horses!
Teleportation! Working at a global company where I support teams worldwide and having my team based in France - teleportation would give me more opportunities to see people in person more often.
YouTube. I love YouTube - there is so much information on it, and it’s overwhelming but also incredibly helpful.
Karaoke isn’t really my thing, but if I were forced to participate, I’d probably go with something from Prince (When Doves Cry) or Bruno Mars – any song.
Talking to my grandma. She is truly the sweetest person I know, and when she laughs or smiles, it instantly makes me do the same. She always makes me happy.
The roles we play at work are just one facet of ourselves. Nicolette’s story is a testament to the rich and dynamic personalities that make up Ogury and reflect our organizational values. Stay tuned for more stories as we continue highlighting the incredible individuals who contribute to Ogury’s success and culture.
