Ogury’s Reflections from DMEXCO 2024

DMEXCO, Europe’s leading digital marketing and tech event, made a grand return to Cologne this September. With 680+ exhibitors, 850+ speakers and 40,000+ attendees, the conference has become a pivotal space for adtech to tackle the most significant questions - the year’s motto was ‘Prompting the Future’. 

At this year’s jam-packed conference, the Ogury team stepped up its presence accordingly, fully prepared to address the challenges and opportunities in the adtech space. It was a dynamic, fast-paced two days, and Ogury was in the thick of it, ready to engage with the most important discussions shaping the future of digital marketing. 

Some of the most anticipated topics at the event should be no surprise: Artificial Intelligence, and the future of digital advertising in a privacy-centric world. Redefining the way brands connect with consumers, the Ogury team was ready to share its insights. 

AI continues to revolutionize digital marketing, with a DMEXCO survey finding that 84 percent of the survey participants already use AI for generating texts, including 56 percent for creation and asset generation. As marketers shift towards more context-driven campaigns, AI helps brands ensure their messages are timely and relevant. 

The deprecation of third-party cookies and the search for viable alternatives was another hot topic. The DMEXCO survey highlighted that only 20% of those surveyed are focused on post-cookie strategies, but make no mistake - advertising identifiers are increasingly ineffective and their decline is inevitable. Consumers are taking the reins, and for marketers to truly future-proof their advertising efforts, privacy-centric solutions will have to become the standard. 

An encouraging development at this year's conference was the growing visibility of women in adtech. Female leaders took center stage, including Ogury’s own Andrea Wieseke, Ogury Country Director for Switzerland and Austria, for “Mar-Tech Mavericks: How Women Are Reshaping the Mar-Tech Landscape.” Their presence at DMEXCO signals a positive shift towards a more balanced and inclusive digital marketing ecosystem.
